Where can i buy Hot Dogs ?

Princes Hotdogs are available in most Sainsburys, Co-op and selected independent stores

For the Toad the Hole:
Vegetable oil
1 can of 8 Princes Hot Dogs
70g plain flour
2 eggs
100ml milk
Salt and pepper
For the onion gravy:
Vegetable oil
1 onion – peeled and thinly sliced
2 cloves garlic – peeled and chopped
2 tsp plain flour
350ml chicken or vegetable stock
1 heaped tsp french mustard
2 tsp soy sauce

  1. Preheat the oven to 230°C / 220°C Fan / Gas 8.
  2. Brush four individual pie dishes with vegetable oil.
  3. Drain the hot dogs and cut in half to fit the dishes. Divide the hot dog halves evenly between the dishes and cook for 5 – 10 minutes until they start to brown.
  4. While the hot dogs are cooking, place the flour into a bowl and add the eggs. Mix until smooth. Whisk in the milk in a little at a time, season with salt and pepper. You can also use a stick blender to make the batter.
  5. Once the pie dishes, oil and sausages are hot, quickly pour one quarter of the batter into each dish over the sausages.
  6. Cook for 20-25 minutes, until golden brown on top – don′t be tempted to open the oven before the end of cooking time!
  7. Serve with onion gravy, mash and vegetables.
  8. For the onion gravy: pour a glug of oil into a small saucepan. Add the onion and garlic and fry over a medium heat until golden. Add the flour and cook for a few minutes, stirring all the time. Slowly add about half the stock, a little at a time, stirring well with each addition.
  9. Add the mustard and soy sauce and season to taste. Add more stock as needed until the gravy is the consistency you like.
