An easy way to your 5 a day!

Trying to get your 5 a day? I know it can be difficult! Especially as we lead increasingly busy lives, but it doesn’t have to be hard, you can eat fresh, frozen or canned fruit with juice to ensure you get one of your 5 a day.

We all know fruit and veg is good for us but it’s not always easy to remember to consume all recommended five portions in one day!

A really quick and easy way to get a portion of fruit is having it with your breakfast. Breakfast is the perfect way to top up our energy stores after an overnight fast, yet as many as 1 third of us regularly miss breakfast1 which can result in increased hunger later on in the day, which may lead to unnecessary snacking. Using canned fruit is perfect addition to a busy breakfast time. It is convenient and mess free as the fruit is already washed, chopped and ready to eat!

My top 5 reasons to enjoy Princes canned fruit

  • Canned Fruit with Juice counts towards one of your 5 a day
  • A great way to enjoy a balanced diet
  • Low in fat and a source of fibre (prunes, pineapples, pears)
  • It’s convenient; the fruit is washed, chopped and ready to eat – meaning no mess!
  • Can be used at any meal time or as a snack, ideal for a quick, simple breakfast

In addition to being part of your 5 a day, did you know Princes Prunes, Pears and Pineapple with Juice all offer a brilliant source of fibre as well? Princes Ready To Eat Prunes provide as much as 5g fibre per 100g, and makes a delicious addition to any breakfast, meal or snack.

So, why not use breakfast as a meal to boost your 5-a-day intake?

Simply add Princes Ready To Eat prunes to your morning porridge for an instant fibre boost, or enjoy a tasty winter combo with Princes Peach Slices and cinnamon to a pot of natural yoghurt.
